Declaring Center

Here is the sacred center,
the hearth fire, the heart fire,
The spark at the core of all worlds.
Here is the flame of life, it arises from the depths,
The fire within the well -
The well of wisdom, the well of wyrd,
The boundless depths that reach through all times.
Come! Let us regard the depths,
And rise with the flame,
The meeting place of all times and places here,
That opens as our hearts to welcome those we call. Biodh se!

Community Bríd Invocation

Bríd I invoke this day,
In the high places and the low,
Beside the hearth fire and at the sacred well.
The gentle queen I call to her hall,
The place where the bed is prepared.
By her many graces I call to Bríd who graces us this day;
Grace of eye and grace of hand,
Grace of word and grace of will,
Grace of caring, grace of birthing, grace in mourning,
Grace of carriage, grace of courage,
Comforter and mother,
Bríd of the Blessings I name the one
Who blesses us this day!
Let us greet her, we who know her blessings.
Come weaver and poet,
Come brewer and baker,
Come mother and healer,
Come blacksmith and wordsmith,
Beekeeper and hearthkeeper,
Thus we call to our Mother and Queen;
A bed is prepared at the seat of honour,
Come grace our hearth seat,
Bríd we invoke this day!

Welcoming

Let us raise our hand and voice in praise,
The queen is among us, let us rejoice this day!
Welcome Bríd to enter our hearts as she enters our hall,
Hear our call!

Divination

This is what I was given to do:

Let us look into this hearthfire that is laid by our people,
first for the shape of that people, that tribe,
Then for the path that they - that we - have chosen for this year.
Then for the health and fortune of our leader,
Who holds the fortunes of all.
And crowning all, let us look for the will
and the gift and the guidance of Bríd this day.
May all speak words of strength and truth and beauty here!
