SLG Business Meeting - November 11, 2003
Meeting called to order 7:10 pm.
Attendees: Rob Henderson, Gen Stoyak, Rod Cox, Jude Howison and Matt Tannehill.
Officer Reports
Senior Druid: Rob Henderson
Samhain Rituals went well with 13 in attendance for the afternoon rite and 27 attending the evening rite.
We are currently on the inactive Grove list with ADF due to late submission of 2 quarterly Grove reports in a row. This deficit has been corrected and the inactive designation will most likely be reversed when the GCC meets next.
We will soon be able to apply for full Grove status.
New Dedicant Study Program should be sent out shortly.
Administrator: Jude Howison
Rather than continue to cut costs, I (Jude) want to try to be more productive. I'm afraid that any further cuts may threaten those things that make us SLG, like Fire Watch and rituals at our nemeton in Botsford. It's time to generate income while continuing to be careful with spending.
Scribe: Jude Howison
I (Jude) pledge that this will be the year when we will have 12 months of meeting minutes posted.
Pursewarden: Rod Cox
I (Rod) am disappointed in proceeds at the Samhain ritual. We had higher attendance but lower income. Perhaps a message should be posted on the e-mail list or in the newsletter to let people know that their donations at ritual help to pay for the ritual site.
There is also a need to send out renewal reminders to members.
Chronicler: Gen Stoyak
No newsletter was due at Samhain.
We have had 2 articles submitted from people outside of our grove membership. These are scheduled to be discussed later in the meeting.
Public Relations: (none)
Rob reported that we were not listed in the Excentric/Observer at all for the Samhain ritual.
Youth Activities Coordinator: (none)
No report.
Web Master: Rob Henderson
We will lose the search option soon due to the number of pages we use. In order to keep this option, we would have to pay a quarterly fee. It was agreed that this is not a necessary expense.
The web site will be up-to-date soon (Rituals, minutes)
Gen suggested adding a menu bar and dressing up pages. She also suggested a section for news. It was decided that she will work up some samples of what she has in mind and submit this to the Web Master.
Guild Leader Reports
Magicians: Rod Cox
There has been a good turn out for Guild day in the past few months.
I (Rod) am running for Chief of the ADF National Magicians Guild.
Healers: Rod Cox
Also good attendance for local Healers Guild.
Warriors: Rod Cox
ADF National Warriors Guild is having elections.
Producers: Gen Stoyak
I (Gen) would like to stress the teaching aspect of Producers Guild.
Perhaps we could plan some field trips in lieu of meetings until we can find a place to have meetings.
Other Agenda Items
1. Proposed bylaws changes
a. Lift term limit for assistant Senior Druid.
Began discussion, to
vote in Dec.
b. Remove/change weighted voting for local issues.
It was decided
that this is a moot point.
2. Articles submitted for newsletter from outside our membership.
a. Nudity at rituals
It was decided that the content of this
article is inappropriate for the newsletter Gen will contact the author
and offer to forward this article to the e-list.
b. Spirit at the Center directory.
It was decided that this article
needs extensive editing. Gen will contact the author and ask that he edit
and resubmit.
3. Fund raising and community service ideas.
Tabled due to time constraints.
4. SLG-L list subscribers.
It was decided to have the "L" limited to members only but to contact those whose memberships have expired to see if they would like to renew.
4a. Convocation Suite
It was decided that Rob should contact the hotel and arrange to reserve a suite for Grove use during Convocation. The reservation will be made if the cancellation policy allows us to cancel if we cannot raise the needed funds.
5. Calendar for 2004
Tentative dates for High Days and planning meetings as well as Grove activities such as Guild day and Study group meetings were set.
Meeting ended 9:40 pm.
Thank you one and all.
